Ecological Responsibility

Toadhall is situated on the Greenbelt, a landform that cleanses our air, filters our water and protects the headwaters of dozens of rivers and streams. It is habitat for 66 endangered species.

Green Tourism: Toadhall takes ecological responsibility by implementing the measures below to help sustain this fragile eco-system.

• Electric power is bought exclusively from wind and low-impact hydro generators that meet or exceed the federal government’s EcoLogo standard for renewable electricity.
• Energy efficient shower heads, faucets and toilet flushers
• Breakfasts emphasize wholesome, locally grown and raised organic foods, vegetarian a specialty
• Low voltage and low wattage energy efficient lighting
• Use environmentally friendly cleaning products, oxygen bleach
• Passive solar home does not use AC, but is cooled by lake breezes with the help of oscillating fans
• Use recycled paper for stationery and printing
• Pesticide-free garden
• Store and reuse water from washing vegetable to water plants
• Compost, reuse & recycle
